Assalaam aleikum, accordance to Sharia , when fasting the holy month of Ramadan reaches 29th, its mandatory to observe new moon of Shawwal that starts after Asr salah and if its sighted , the next day is Eid Al-Fitr. So Office of the Grand Mufti of South Africa calling the Public to start observing new moon of Shawwal 2025/1446 today the 29th March 2025 corresponding with 29th Ramadan 1446.
