Constitutional Mandate of MUSCOOSA

Muslim Supreme Council of South Africa (MUSCOOSA) was Registered on first 1st July 2015 as Nonprofit Company (NPC), Registered on 13th -8-2015 as Non-Government Organization (NPO) and Inaugurated in a two-day summit that took place at Tuffontein Race Course Johannesburg Presided Over by Hon. David Makhura Premier of Gauteng Province with directives from His Excellence former President of South Africa Jacob Zuma, the Inauguration Summit of Muslim Supreme Council of South Africa (MUSCOOSA) took place from 5 to 6 October same year, Office of Grand Mufti of South Africa was officially launched that recognized the Grand Mufti of South Africa in that position to date. This Inauguration was attended by over 1000 VIP delegates from Government, Faith leaders and their staff members.

After four years of serving the country since 2015, Muslim Supreme Council of South Africa (MUSCOOSA) was accredited as National Statutory body in charge of Islam and Muslim Affairs of South Africa In the 4th National Consultative Conference (NCC) Held at St George Hotel Pretoria on 25-26 February 2019 by Chapter 9 Institution in charge of religious affairs by Constitution called  “Commission for Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) for the Government of South Africa, officially recognized Muslim Supreme Council of South Africa (MUSCOOSA) as statutory Umbrella body in Charge of Islam and Muslim affairs of South Africa for National and International representation in accordance with section 36(1)&(2) of the Commissions Founding Act (No.19 of 2002) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

With constitutional mandate to operate as National statutory body in charge of Affairs of Islam of South Africa, the management realized that Islamic affairs are global affairs especially Hajj and Umra, therefore we activated operations of Global Muslim Alliance (GMA) as Union of Muslim Supreme Councils in charge of Islamic affairs known as Ministry for Islamic affairs in Islamic Countries, Global Muslim Alliance (GMA) form part of Department of International Relations of Muscoosa (Muslim Supreme Council of South Africa) that makes South Africa as founder member state.

The only requirement for any country to become GMA member state is to activate GMA operation in the department of international relations of statutory body in charge of Islamic affairs of That Country known as Muslim Supreme Council or Ministry of Islamic Affairs, or any other name but of a similar administrational role accredited by the government of that country. Global Muslim Alliance (GMA) operation is the first initiative after accreditation by the government of South Africa.
