Fidiyat

Fidiyat is an Arabic word that means ransom. Fidiya is a kind of payment mandatory to those who can not afford fasting due to old age or sickness and they can never get a chance to fast.

When the month of fasting is confirmed, every body who is a Muslim must fast because its forth pillar of Islam. for those who may not be able to fast due to sickness and traveling , are excused on condition that after month of Ramadan, they must fast those days they missed.

But those people who can not fast holy month of Ramadan due to old age or sickness without cure they must ransom themselves by feeding poor people who are fasting. they choose a family to feed every day until end of month.

Determination of Amount Paid as Fidiyat

Old people who can not fast and those who are sick of incurable sickness ransom themselves by feeding a family of those in need who are fasting until they are satisfied including spending on them for Eid Al-Fitr celebrations. Must buy for them new clothes after Ramadan for Eid celebrations, Must buy the best of foods, drinks. must buy for them everything they such as sugar, tea, coffee, juices, meat, rice, etc until they are satisfied. this is for those who have means.

For those who have got no means, they must choose one needy pious person who is fasting and contribute on his spending on food according to what they can afford.
